Getting More Fibre in Your Diet

If you read our review of the appetite suppressant Appesat you will know that rather than taking Appesat we recommend UniqueHoodia. There are several reasons for this (see our appesat review for all the reasons) but one big reason is that essentially all Appesat does is give you a boost of fibre in your diet.

Fibre is a natural appetite suppressant which is why you will often see high-fibre cereals advertising that they can keep you full until lunch. It goes without saying that an increase in your fibre intake can be achieved with a few simple (and much cheaper than Appesat) changes in your diet.

Making a change to your diet can, at first, seem like a tough thing to do. However, a few small changes over time and you will soon have increased your fibre intake and start feeling the benefits of appetite suppression.

Before we provide you with some suggestions on how to incorporate more fibre in to your diet let’s first look at what fibre is and what its health benefits are.

Fibre is made up of several complex carbohydrates and can either be soluble or insoluble. Unlike most other foods we consume, fibre contains no calories, vitamins or minerals and therefore passes through your body without being digested. This is also why people suffering from constipation are encouraged to eat more fibre (or roughage as it is also known).

Hoodia and Exportation

When it comes to Hoodia Gordonii, most manufacturers will offer you a CITES certificates that date back as far as 6 months.

Now whilst there is nothing wrong with it being 6 months old – after all Hoodia Gordonii is hard to export – seeing this number on your CITES certificate can decrease your confidence in its reliability. After spending so long in storage will it still have the same effect as raw, fresh Hoodia Gordonii?

The answer to this one is debatable, 6 months or a year the fact is your Hoodia Gordonii has been in storage for a while.

But what if we were to tell you that there are Hoodia companies who can get it to you just a month after it was harvested. Companies who can then prove that what they are offering is real Hoodia Gordonii? Would you be interested in finding out more? Well it’s true.

Take Hoodia Company UniqueHoodia.

The truth behind the Hoodia extract controversy

Can genuine Hoodia Gordonii come in an extract form? The simple answer to this question is no, no they can’t.

And the reason for this is simple too.

You see, when companies wield the term ‘Hoodia extract’, all they are actually offering you is a sample of the product they are claiming to sell. In most cases just 60%.

The other 40% on the other hand can be anything from the leaves or flower of the Hoodia Gordonii plant; parts from other Hoodia plants (there are in fact 13 types of Hoodia plant, but only Hoodia Gordonii can offer users appetite suppression) and even caffeine.

So whilst said companies may claim to sell you genuine 100% Hoodia Gordonii extract, you would be lucky to actually get 60% of the real plant. The core where the active ingredient P57 is found.

Weight loss and detox

Incorporating a detox diet into your weight loss management plan can offer you more than clearer skin and improved bodily functions. It can also help you to lose weight, boost your immunity, beat headaches and remove cellulite. Every woman’s dream.

Saying this it is important that you ensure that your body always receives the right level of nutrients – something that detoxing can affect.

Let us explain.

Whilst detoxing can radically reduce your calorie count by encouraging you to eat low fat foods such as fruit and vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds, herbal teas and plenty of water. Which in turn can reduce bloating, cleanse your organs and keep you enriched in protein and vitamins.

Many detox diets, involve a reduction in wheat, dairy, meat, fish, eggs, caffeine, alcohol, salt, sugar and processed food. Now although some of these – if over indulged in – can contribute to weight gain, they do in themselves offer you essential nutrients that can not be over looked for an extended period of time. And if you do choose to cut them out, you could be risking your body to dietary deficiencies and lower immunity.

Weight loss and calories (part one)

We all know that for a woman they have only got a daily allowance of 2,000 calories, compared to men who are allowed 2,500 calories. But ask someone what calories are, and the majority wouldn’t be able to give you a complete answer.

All they know is that too many calories can contribute to weight gain.

So what are calories? Calories are essentially units of energy. Energy which is used to raise your body temperature. Take this example. One calorie equals the same amount of energy that is needed to raise the temperature of 1 kilogram of water by 1 degree Celsius.

We know, what has this got to do with food, but calories are our way of measuring the energy content of the foods we eat.

Another metrical tool you need to know when you are losing weight, which you won’t traditionally find on a food label, is joules. These measure food energy too, but work on a higher setting. In this case, 1 calorie equals 4,184 joules (with such high figures it is easy to see why companies opt for calories).

Even when you measure it in kilojoules, one kilojoule is still 1,000 joules.

How to find genuine Hoodia Gordonii

Search the web using just the term ‘hoodia’ and you’ll soon be bombarded by an assortment of companies all claiming to offer you the ‘genuine’ article.

Now to the average surfer this is just the news they have been looking for: easy access to a range of Hoodia products readily available to buy. But here is the thing: 80% of the Hoodia products you are browsing through are fake.

Yes that’s right, all 8 out of 10 of them. And these unfortunately are just the ones that were willingly sent to Alkemist pharmaceuticals for testing.

In truth there are probably hundreds more out there that too are not the real deal.

So why are so many of them considered to be fake? Doesn’t the ingredient list say it contains real Hoodia? In most cases this is true, but there is more to this story than just reading the ingredients list.

Hoodia Gordonii and medical backing

When Hoodia companies talk about having accreditations that prove they are the real deal, the most common ones you’ll hear of is having a CITES certificate to prove its place of origin and the product itself being laboratory tested by Alkemist Pharmaceuticals.

But did you know that there are a variety of other certificates and laboratory companies that can also confirm the above and provide further reassurance? No? Don’t worry that is not your fault.

You see many companies have already jumped on the band wagon of claiming to have the testing of Alkemist Pharmaceuticals and a CITE Certificate to prove their products are the real deal. They make the statement; make the claim and some even more importantly provide documentation on their website.

But here is the thing. Just because they have got the certificates does not mean that they are still not lying.

Believe it or not, but many companies choose to falsely put on a CITES certificate onto their website even though it is not theirs. They have essentially stolen it, and have blacked out the relevant information that would prove otherwise.
