Plugins make our lives so much simpler. They do all the dirty SEO optimization work for us. As always, there are tons of plugins to choose from. We will be looking at the ones that will provide you with the most benefit. All WordPress.org plugins are free to use, as long as you do not remove the copyright information in the files. Some plugins provide SEO improvements and others provide security protection. We should be glad we are not paying for all these extra features. So, let’s begin with some of the basic plugins and move onto the more complex ones.

Plugins can extend WordPress to do almost anything you can imagine, in the directory you can find, download, rate, and comment on all the best plugins.
Akismet: This is a very important plug-in which will help control spam on your blog. It uses an API key, and is compatible with all versions of WordPress.
All in One SEO: This is the ultimate SEO plug-in. You have to have this plug-in if you expect large SEO improvements for your website. There is an options page with all settings, where you may add and delete information. This tool is amazing in terms of SERPS, as you will see improvements in just a couple of weeks of activation.
Google XML Sitemap: This plug-in will help you in terms of search engine results. The sitemap is an important tool which will generate traffic in the long run.
Subscribe Remind: This plug-in will help you build subscribers and readers on your blog. When the plug-in is enabled, it will show a text at the end of each post you make, asking the reader to subscribe to your RSS feed.
Comments are a major part of blogging. You are always looking for user comments and people look to leave comments for the back links. However, it can get out of hand, and you will see spam coming in. If your blog is a very popular one, you will a couple hundred per month. The best plug-in to use to block these comments is Akismet. Another plug-in which can be used to display the last post of the commenter is called CommentLuv. It is free to use and can be found on WordPress.org. Another plug-in called, Comment Relish, will send a “thank you for commenting message to the commenter. This is a nice gesture on your behalf, and they feel like a valued reader. Lastly, Top Commentators, is a plug-in which will show the top commenter’s on your blog. The top commenters will be awarded by displaying their name on the front page of your blog. Their name can be linked or not, which you will choose in the options. The technique to keep readers coming back is to reward them for coming.
